I have received your letter of the 30th May and come to hand on the 5th instant. That the usual number of coolies and boat hire wages during the month of April and May' a cheque No. 6 payable to my order on the Chartered Marcantile Bank in Malacca.

And I beg to inform you when I received last payment in Malacca and I went back to Gressay Muar and I saw eight Malays men cutting timbers and long sticks in our estate and I asked them by whose order that they received to cut these timbers and long sticks and the man answer me that they received from Tunkoo Salayman, Resident at Muar and the two of the men shown me their paper which they got from Tunkoo Salayman, and in the paper of one men says that he is allowed to cut timbers only and the other is allowed to cut long sticks for fishing stakes only for the periods of three months time, and I put them to stop from cutting and therefore to let you know if Tunkoo Salayman might have ask you orders to allow men to cut timbers and long sticks in the estate. And beg to say that all the trees in the estate are all in good order. I am Sir

Receipt for Wages and Boat Hire for April and May 1887.

MALACCA, 8th June 1887.

I the undersigned Jenal Ahbidain do hereby acknowledge to have this day received from A. G. Studer, Esquire, the sum of Spanish dollars ninety seven $97 being two months coolies wages and boat hire for the month of April and May 1887.

I have received your letter of the 29th July and came to hand on the 5th inst. that I have received the amount of coolies wages and boat hire &c. a cheque No. 7 payable to my order on the Chartered Marcantile Bank Malacca and here I enclose the receipt.

In your letter say that someone discovered bright nice tin in Muar at a place called Beji Sedikit and I am sorry to say this is the first time I heard the name of the place and how eve I will try all my best to make enquires about the place, and also to inform you that the man is still cutting timbers in the place and they did not listen what I say and hope you will be good enough to report it to the Sultan about it and to say all the plants in the Estate are all in good order, and all the coolies send their compliments to you.

I the undersigned Jenal Ahbidain do hereby acknowledge to have this day received from A. G. Studer, Esquire the sum of Spanish dollars Ninety seven $97 being the amount of coolies wages and boat hire for the month of June, July 1887.

I have received your letter of the 26th September and came to hand on 5th instant.

For the usual number of coolies and boat hire wages during the month of August and September 1887 a cheque No. 8 payable to my order on the Chartered Marcantile Bank in Malacca.

And in your letter say that you wants me to go and see you before I go to Muar, and I am sorry to say I cannot go to see you, that I am sick, for the last two weeks with the Paralses, and I send my son Embre to see you and he will let you know, all about in the Estate, and hope as soon I am better I will at once go and see you. I herewith enclose a receipt for the coolies and boat hire wage for the month of August and September 1887.
