I have only Two Things more to advertise the Reader of; and the Firft is, I thought, according to my Promife, to have published, by way of an Appendix- to this Volume, à Lift of all the Religious Houfes, with the Names of the Founders, and Shires in which they are; together with an Account of the First Rife of all the Ancient Families of the Nation, inftructed from Charters, Chartularies, and other Authentic Documents, for illustrating the Hiftory of our Nation. But, after I had printed off feveral Sheets of it, I found, that by the Documents I had by me and what I was daily receiving, it would have increased the Bulk of this Book to more than Two Hundred Sheets: So I was oblig'd to give over my Defign, and refer the Lift of the Friories, Provoftries, Nunneries and other Religious Orders, to the Third Volume, to which I ball likewife annex a large Index of the Principal Mat- ters treated of in all the Three Volumes. As for the Account of the Fami- lies, I have now digefted it for a large Quarto Book, in which I shall not only give Account of the Firft Rife of the Nobility and Gentry of the Na- tion, but likewife of all the Honours they have attained to in Church and State: In the Preface to which, I shall make honourable Mention of all thofe who have furnished me with Memoirs; and if any Noblemen or Gentlemen, will fend me Accounts of their Families, unquestionably documented, I fball do them all imaginable Fuftice. The Other is, That I have given an Account of a great many Books men- A N Alphabetical Catalogue Of fuch of the SUBSCRIBERS Names and Defig nations as have come to our Hands.
