The book will, it is believed, be found specially interesting to the young, some of whom will become Redcoats and Bluejackets themselves, and will do their duty all the better for a knowledge of the gallant deeds done by their predecessors. At the same time, the greatest care has been taken with facts and dates, and it is hoped that the older or the professional reader will not find the work altogether uninteresting or unworthy of perusal.
A chronological list of engagements has been added, to increase its usefulness as a handy book of reference.
