Charleston, S. C. Died

in Baltimore, 1909. Served as Major in Confederate Army, Civil War.

Was accused by a Mrs 269 Wolf of being a southern spy, during the Civil war, and was imprisoned in Fortress Monroe (then in charge of General 270 Butler,) from about March 1, 1864, for about six weeks, when she was exonorated. (This record taken from the U. S. War Department and from letters written by her while in prison.

Progeny: 7 Children; 3 Sons, 4 Daughters

Cara Leslie Gardinier, b March 31, 1886. Went to France two months before the Armistice, as business manager of the Barnard College unit (of which College she is a graduate) under the A. R. C., at Bordeaux, until Dec. 1918, when, under the French Government that did reconstruction work for a year at the village of Marcoing, near Cambrai.
