Portada
SAGE Publications, 2002 M06 17 - 250 páginas
This guide creates a step-by-step sequence of practical techniques, based on research on successful teaching and grounded in real-life examples, that guide teachers toward an effective action plan for successful teaching and classroom management. The manual's suggestions give teachers the skills and tactics necessary to manage, control, and enrich their professional lives. Each chapter begins with stated objectives and ends with a summary. There are 15 resources, including lesson planning worksheets, calendar organizers, a substitute teacher kit, parent-teacher conference planners, surveys, inventories, and a listing of professional organizations. Targeted questions in each chapter encourage personalized reflection and solutions. After an introduction that explains what research says, 10 chapters include: (1) "Take Care of Yourself"; (2) "Identify and Understand Expectations"; (3) "Know Your Resources"; (4) "Determine Your Goals"; (5) "Your Schedule: The Framework for Your Action Plans"; (6) "Develop an Instructional Plan"; (7) "Develop a Climate Plan"; (8) "Revisit Your Schedule"; (9) "Implement and Assess Your Plans"; and (10) "Become a Reflective Practitioner." An epilogue discusses what educational leaders at all levels must know. (Contains 68 references.) (SM).
